Modern Cajun

  • 87

Sac-a-Lait, housed in a renovated cotton mill in the Warehouse District, dishes out locally-sourced seasonal Cajun cuisine like turtle boudin over duck egg risotto and serrano-goat cheese grits alongside fresh Gulf seafood such as “lost fish,” a perdu-style fried fish with crawfish étouffée. The lofty elegant space, outfitted with 140-year-old reclaimed pine, features a hand-crushed oyster shell bar from which Louisiana-inspired libations, like the Swamp Monkey (locally-produced gin, vermouth, pastis) are served.
