Featured Napa Chardonnay

  • Shafer, "Red Shoulder Ranch", Los Carneros, 2013 In 1988, Doug and John Shafer purchased a new property in the cooler Los Carneros region of Napa Valley to grow their Chardonnay grapes. The vineyard is sustainably farmed, and its name "Red Shoulder Ranch" has a much deeper meaning than just a name. The name pays hommage to the local Red-shouldered hawks that are key to these sustainable farming practices. Tall perches were erected for the hawks throughout the property, and the hawks rewarded the Shafers for this by keeping the population of vine-damaging gophers naturally under control. This allows for no rodent poisons to be used throughout the vineyard, keeping the vines and the soils healthy. Healthy vines=Healthy grapes, and these grapes are the key to the creation of a classically-styled, California Chardonnay

A delicate, yet powerful, balance of bright ripe fruit and rustic terroir, this wine's pedigree is shining through beautifully

Featured Saint Joseph

  • François Villard, "Reflet", 2011 In Saint Joseph, red wines are centered around the workhorse grape of the Northern Rhône: Syrah. These Syrah-based wines are able to capture not only power, but elegance as well. They are able to flex their muscular guns, while still being able to talk about their feelings. With flavors including fresh red and black berries, smoke, bacon fat and olive brine, these are some of the most exciting and complex wines on the planet

Featured Producer

  • Jean-Louis Chave If there were a name that was synonymous with the hill of Hermitage, it would be that of Jean-Louis Chave. The family began making Hermitage in 1481, passing down wisdom through the generations to create some of the most perfectly balanced wines available. Traditionalists to the core, the key to the perfect balance of his wines is the remarkable blending skill. This creates wines of great nuance, harmony, depth and aging potential

The vines used for this wine are an average age of 40 years and produce very low yields -- which in the economy of viticulture, less is more! Greater concentration, ripeness, and aromatic complexity create the ideal experience in the glass; or if you prefer, a party in the mouth

Featured Tuscan Red

  • Chianti Classico Riserva, Terreno, 1997 Too often Classico gets associated with the wicker baskets of cheap Chianti, or under appreciated against the grandness of Brunello. Classico, located in the heart of Tuscany has been regarded as Sangiovese's ideal home for centuries. The wines produced there are nuanced, dynamic, and worthy of decades of cellaring. The misassociation amongst Chianti has lead Classico to be a truly incredible value. Ours happens to be a Riserva from one of the best Tuscan vintages of the 20th century

Featured Toro

  • Numanthia, 2010 The Numanthia 2008 vintage was special as it was the first vintage at the winery for Manuel Louzada, their current winemaker. After every vintage, he wisely holds back an allotment of bottles with their future undecided. These bottles remain at the winery as his personal collection, aging beautifully in ideal conditions. It was eventually decided that some of these bottles should be released to the public in order to demonstrate their incredible aging potential. Using 100% Tinto del Toro (Tempranillo), this wine is able to combine power and concentration of fruit with the elegance and terroir of an Old World wine

Featured Fancy Beer

  • Pipeworks, "Lizard King", 16oz After meeting each other while working at West Lakeview Liquors, Gerrit Lewis and Beejay Olson decided it was time to open a brewery of their own. After an inspirational trip to Belgium, and a successful Kickstarter, Pipeworks Brewing Co. was born. The brewery opened in late January 2012 and began brewing extremely unique, small batch beers. They quickly gained a cult following in Chicago that first year. So much so that in January 2013, RateBeer named them "Best New Brewery in the World", and they haven't looked back since. A newer addition to their porfolio, Lizard King is a bright, crisp pale ale that is dryhopped with Mosaic hops. Be warned, this beer is super crushable, it'll be hard to drink just one!

Château Belair, from the small list of St.-Émilion's elite first growths, has always proven to be a dynamic wine on its own that shows classic regional characteristics 1982
