What the Food Critics are Saying

“The menu is by turns healthful (a 17-vegetable salad) and homey (meatloaf with mashed potatoes), a virtual checklist of current food trends from deviled eggs to chicken with waffles. Most items—including pasta, breads, and preserves—are made in-house. And many of the fixings—the restaurant is owned by the North Dakota Farmers Union—are from farms, fisheries, and meat purveyors in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, some from farther afield in Maine and Wisconsin.” – Washingtonian

“Make your way from apps you can grab like brown sugar-glazed bacon lollies to comfort-ness like Low Country shrimp & grits, but it's worth leaving some room at the end for the best red velvet cake in the District. Actually, before you go cake, get a set of three "Dogs and Rolls" with options like crab rolls, balsamic onion bacon dogs and pastrami rolls. This is why you brought friends.” – Thrillist

[On “10 Best Hotdogs in DC” Farmers Chili Dog] “The hot dog here falls in line with the Foggy Bottom restaurant's commitment to sourcing locally: The beef hot dogs are made by Stachowski's in Georgetown, the buns are made by sister restaurant Farmers Fishers Bakers, the chili is made in-house with seasonal ingredients and it's all garnished with minced yellow onions and Tillamook Cheddar. (We won't quibble with the fact that Tillamook is in Oregon.)” – Zagat

Ambience

The rustic-chic space on the first floor of the International Monetary Fund building evokes an upscale farmhouse, replete with weathered wood accents, shelves of pickled peaches and corn, and community farm tables. Designed by CORE architecture + design, the sprawling, LEED-certified setting includes a two-story dining room with community tables, booths and cozier seating, as well as a bar.
