Overview

Black Cat is a destination for timeless cocktails, Modern American supper club cuisine and nightly live music and entertainment, in the heart of San Francisco’s Tenderloin. Chef Ryan Cantwell’s menu focuses on shareable plates, including sesame-fried oysters dotted with horseradish remoulade, rabbit potpie or latkes topped with charred shallot cream and salmon pastrami. Bar manager Gabriel Lowe pours well-balanced, classic cocktails like the Vieux Carre or Sidecar, while the wine list, curated by Wine Director Eugenio Jardim, focuses on Californian and European labels with a robust collection of grower-producer Champagne. Black Cat is known for its grit-meets-glam aesthetic dissonance, from lush antique velvet and jewel tones to exposed brick walls.
