Overview

Opening in the fall of 2015, Bateau is a Capitol Hill venture from chef Renee Erickson (The Walrus and The Carpenter, The Whale Wins, Barnacle). A chalkboard hangs in the intimate, white-clapboard space where servers tally off the day’s cuts of grass-fed beef from Erickson's 30-acre Whidbey Island farm. A small window allows diners to view aging slabs of beef, while menu offerings might include filet mignon slathered in bone marrow butter or bavette steak in lemon butter.
